San Antonio Lifts Park Curfews for Easter Camping Tradition at Brackenridge and Woodlawn Lake ParksSource: Google Street View

San Antonio Parks and Recreation officials are giving the city's Easter tradition a nod by lifting curfews at select parks for holiday camping, starting this Thursday. Families looking to pitch their tents can do so without the fear of a curfew at various locations, including the popular Brackenridge Park and Woodlawn Lake Park.

In an announcement, the parks will be open for overnight stays from 11 p.m. on March 28, right up until Easter Sunday's 11 p.m. curfew. Campers have the go-ahead to set up at Brackenridge Park across several areas, McAllister Park, MLK Park, and several others for a slice of outdoor life in the heart of the city. Despite the relaxed rules, the Brackenridge Parking Facility is still off-limits, talk about a parking snafu.

Visitors are encouraged to keep their campsites clean, bring trash bags, and take full advantage of the recycling bins scattered throughout the parks. A special Park Stewardship team will also be on hand, assisting with waste management and pushing the eco-friendly agenda with extra bags and recycling know-how. According to a statement obtained by the official city website, "Our city’s Easter camping tradition is like none other, and we’re excited to welcome families, friends and neighbors to select parks over the holiday weekend," Homer Garcia III, Director of Parks and Recreation, noted, “We encourage visitors to do their part to ensure our parks remain clean by disposing of litter and recyclables properly. Whatever you pack into the park, please remember to pack it out.”

For those planning to camp, note that glass containers are a no-go, and food-contaminated waste should be trashed, not recycled. Remember, when you pack up your Easter basket and camping gear to head out, make sure to pack up all your trash as well, after all, no one likes a litterbug. For additional details about the curfew lift and camping rules, the city invites campers to visit their Parks and Rec site directly for the Easter scoop.
