A San Antonio man has been slammed with a 50-year prison term for the brutal stabbing death of 39-year-old David Salinas, officials said. The violent episode unfolded back in November 2021 inside a south-side home, leading to a tragic conclusion.

Anthony Vasquez, 52, faced a judge after being convicted of murder in the second degree, KENS 5 reported. The altercation between Vasquez and Salinas escalated from what began as a shoving match, spiraling into a deadly encounter. At some point during the scuffle, Vasquez whipped out a knife and repeatedly stabbed Salinas, who managed to stumble out of the house before collapsing in the yard.

San Antonio Police, responding to a call at W. Mitchell Street and King Roger, arrived to find Salinas' lifeless body riddled with stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services.

In a statement obtained by KENS 5, Bexar County Criminal District Attorney Joe Gonzales condemned the act," Anthony Vasquez had no reason or excuse to take David Salinas’ life." He went on to say, "Today, Judge Rangel finished what the jury had begun, and took away Vasquez’s freedom. Justice prevailed."

The case was prosecuted by the Felony Criminal Trial Division of the Bexar County Criminal District Attorney's Office, now concluding with Vasquez’s long-term incarceration.
