The Tech Bloc CEO also highlighted the familial atmosphere and cultural comfort that San Antonio offers, an angle she believes will appeal to tech entrepreneurs from Mexico. "They’re constantly looking for innovation outside of their own corporations, so they’re constantly asking … ‘Who else should we meet for XYZ?’" Gonzalez said in the podcast. As per a BizJournals article, Gonzalez and a delegation recently toured Monterrey with an eye toward transforming San Antonio into a more collaborative, tech-savvy city, a shift that could create a viable alternative to locales like Miami, known for its tax benefits.

Gonzalez is not alone in her appraisal of San Antonio's potential to lure Mexican tech talent. The growing tech ecosystem in San Antonio, coupled with its affinity to Mexican culture, is poised to serve as a bridge for entrepreneurs seeking venture capital and support stateside.

This south-of-the-border initiative comes as Monterrey has positioned itself as a magnet for economic activity, with The Lego Group and Tesla announcing significant investments. Tech Bloc's ambition is to mirror the collaborative efforts seen in Monterrey, pushing San Antonio towards its North Star as a hub for nearshoring and startup synergy. The city's alignment with Mexican culture and proximity may indeed provide the fertile ground for a vibrant, cross-border tech exchange. As Gonzalez pointed out, embracing the city's familial vibes and the American mindset could energize San Antonio's tech landscape with an influx of entrepreneurial spirit from its neighbor to the south.
