The alert warns that hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses, so outdoor plans are safest before midday or after sunset, with plenty of water and access to air conditioning.
Tuesday Brings More Triple-Digit Heat
Monday night will remain warm and partly cloudy, with a low around 78 and heat index values as high as 104. Southeast winds will run 5 to 15 mph, with gusts up to 25 mph.
Tuesday looks nearly as hot, with mostly sunny skies, a high near 100 and a low around 77. Wednesday stays mostly sunny and near 98, keeping the heat firmly in charge through midweek.
Rain Chances Finally Nudge Higher
Rain chances remain minimal through Wednesday, then rise Thursday when there is a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 7 a.m. Friday brings a 20% chance of showers between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m., followed by mostly sunny conditions and a high near 96.
The weekend remains hot rather than stormy, with sunny or mostly sunny skies and highs near 96 on Saturday and Sunday. Winds generally stay light, but the combination of heat and lingering humidity will continue to make afternoon outdoor activities uncomfortable.
