An alarming encounter for one San Antonio resident, who found himself in harm’s way when he confronted two women allegedly stealing mail. 35-year-old Kathleen Marie Ashmore-Prather has now been charged with aggravated robbery and other charges related to mail theft after the unsettling incident.

According to FOX San Antonio, the man was on a neighborhood walk Monday when he spotted a pair of individuals illicitly rummaging through the community mailboxes. Ashmore-Prather, paired with another unidentified woman, initiated a swift retreat in her blue Mustang after the duo was called out for their actions. In the escape attempt, she struck the man with her car, causing a knee injury.

Another community member caught wind of the situation and attempted to thwart the getaway by blocking the Mustang with their vehicle. However, Ashmore-Prather powered her car forward, hitting the man who had earlier confronted her, explained an arrest warrant discussed by KSAT. The encounter landed the man on the ground with minor injuries to his leg.

This series of events was documented on video, which displayed the act and also a temporary license plate that led officers directly to Ashmore-Prather. According to the same police statement, the registration information matched the description of Ashmore-Prather’s car. The foul play unfolded all while cameras watched, solidifying the evidence against her. Ashmore-Prather’s arrest came on Wednesday, she faces charges of aggravated robbery, fraudulent possession of identifying information, and the same charge for fewer than five items.
