Law enforcement in San Bernardino County has been tightening the noose on gang activity and narcotic trafficking, as part of a new crackdown named Operation Consequences. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, motivated by additional funds from the County Board of Supervisors, served five search warrants across several locations last week. According to a statement on the sheriff-coroner department website, regions hit included the 6000 Block of Wilding Pl., Riverside, the 11000 Block of Bartlett Ave., Adelanto, and the 1000 Block of Medical Center Dr., San Bernardino.

Between March 16 and March 22, six felons were caught and cuffed, while gang members and individuals barred from firearm possession were confronted. SWAT teams and narcotic units landed quickly to seize around 17 pounds of illegal drugs and nine firearms, per an official report.

The Sheriff’s Department has combined forces with agencies such as the California Highway Patrol and the Department of Homeland Security Investigations. The operation is not just a one-week affair but is set to last several months as part of a sustained campaign against violent crimes and illegal firearms in the area.

The initiated operation by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department signals an important step towards disrupting criminal operations that plague the local communities. It's not only about making arrests; the operation aims to dismantle street gangs that have long sunk their roots into these neighborhoods. Sheriff Shannon D. Dicus hopes to continue to aggressively stamp out these elements and restore tranquility to the beleaguered streets of San Bernardino.
