The San Diego Police Department is currently on the hunt for an impostor who attempted to lure kids by posing as a cop—igniting fears across the community. The suspect, a man misrepresenting himself as law enforcement, made his move on Monday morning at Keiller Park, according to the authorities.
His strategy was straightforward yet sinister: he targeted two children, ages 9 and 12, and tried to coax them quickly toward his vehicle with the false promise of snapping photographs. The kids, trusting their instincts over the man's deceitful claims, chose wisely to rebuff his approach and seek refuge with an adult figure, who alerted the San Diego PD. The suspect vanished on Lisbon Street, leaving behind a city on high alert and parents clinging tighter to their offspring.
The man's description has been circulated widely: a dark-skinned Hispanic male in his late 20s, standing between 5'4" and 5'6", of a thin to medium build, and bearing shoulder-length black hair. He was last spotted donning a blue t-shirt adorned with white horizontal stripes, black pants, and white shoes, completes the sketch circulated by police.
Law enforcement officials are urging anyone with knowledge regarding the suspect or the incident to reach out to Detective David Kean.
