The San Diego Police Department is on the hunt for an escaped suspect, Dandre Lamonte Johnson, following a daring getaway from police custody. Johnson, who was apprehended on vice-related charges by the SDPD VICE unit, slipped out of his confines at the Central Division's holding cell on March 12. Last seen on Imperial Avenue, Johnson's absence has triggered a widespread manhunt.
According to a post by SanDiegoPD, Johnson is a 27-year-old Black man, standing 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighing about 180 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. At the time of the escape, he was still in handcuffs and clad in black clothing with tennis shoes. His escape continues to evade the full deployment of law enforcement resources, including officers, K9 units, and the ABLE helicopter unit.
The SDPD is reaching out to the public for assistance and has urged anyone with knowledge about Johnson's whereabouts or who spots an individual matching the escapee's description to come forward immediately. The local community's role is considered crucial in the timely recapture of the fugitive.
An official statement from SanDiegoPD emphasized the importance of community involvement, stating, "If you have any information or see someone matching his description, please contact SDPD immediately." Despite a detailed description and an ongoing intensive search, Johnson remains at large.
