Last night, a high-speed chase ended with a big thud when the San Bruno Police Department apprehended a 25-year-old San Francisco woman with multiple felony warrants. According to the San Bruno Police Department's Facebook page, the suspect attempted to evade capture, zooming off in her vehicle when officers approached.
But the police officers on the scene showed restraint, opting not to engage in a pursuit due to the slick road conditions. Their patience paid off farther down the road as they deployed spike strips to effectively bring the chase to a halt. The spikes punctured her tires, sending her car careening off-road into a brushy gully near El Camino Real and I-380.
The driver, who has not been publicly identified, was then taken to the hospital for an evaluation before being carted off to San Mateo County Jail. There, she was booked not only for her outstanding warrants, but she also racked up new felony charges for her reckless attempt at dodging law enforcement.
The San Bruno Police touted the operation as a success, a result of swift communication and teamwork. "Split second communication and coordination between the team made this arrest a success," their statement effused. The department has encouraged the community to remain vigilant and to "Take care, San Bruno!" as officers continue to protect and serve.
