Chaos unfolded in San Pablo yesterday when a car struck a bicyclist on the city's streets, leading to a cascade of criminal discoveries upon police intervention. According to the San Pablo Police Department, officers dispatched to the scene found both parties present and, thankfully, reported no major injuries arising from the incident.
The driver, whose license had previously been suspended due to multiple infractions, including DUI, was involved in a vehicular collision that opened a can of worms for law enforcement. While the shock of the impact still hung in the air, an investigation unearthed that the driver should not have been behind the wheel in the first place. The San Pablo Police Department shared that "the driver of the car was found to have a suspended license for multiple violations, including DUI, so clearly, he should not have been driving."
Officers discovered the car wasn't even registered in the driver's name - it was stolen. During the incident's unraveling, the San Pablo Police's routine car search yielded a loaded firearm cleverly concealed under a seat, further complicating matters for the already troubled driver.
Subsequently, the driver was detained without incident. The discovery of the firearm under the seat exacerbated the seriousness of today's traffic fiasco, one leading to another, and compounded the driver's list of wrongdoings. He was later transported to the county jail, as confirmed by the police authorities, and charged with the possession of a stolen vehicle and carrying a concealed weapon, among other offenses.
