A Santa Monica man has been cuffed after a harrowing domestic accusation, cops said. Alleged perp Derrick Wright, 46, was arrested on charges of felony domestic violence, misdemeanor child abuse, and aggravated trespassing after a violent March 6 ordeal that ended with his victim in the hospital, Santa Monica police detailed.
The police were summoned to the scene of the grisly domestic dispute around 6:30 PM, where Wright reportedly not only assaulted his girlfriend but also threatened her and her daughter with what turned out to be a replica gun, the chaos didn't stop there as Wright fled before law enforcement arrived, sending detectives on a tailspin that ended in Long Beach.
With a search and arrest warrant in hand, Santa Monica Police Department's SWAT Team, alongside other specialized units, cornered Wright on March 7 after he invaded another home while on the run, according to the official release from the Santa Monica Government. The bust incorporates an enhancement for the severe injuries incurred by the victim, brandishing a firearm to the child involved, and the mayhem of his subsequent trespass during flight and capture.
