Tensions are high at Valley View Middle School in Simi Valley after a disturbing bomb threat was reported to local authorities late Wednesday night. According to the Simi Valley Police Department, an anonymous tipster used the district's "We-Tip" platform to announce intentions to bring a bomb onto the school grounds today.
Officers launched an investigation into the menacing message. A thorough sweep of the campus by school staff and trained officers turned up no evidence of an actual threat. Yet the school is not taking any chances. "Please understand that you may not always see officers openly patrolling the campus, however they are around," stated the Simi Valley Police in an announcement.
In light of recent trend of hoax threats, including one at Taft High School just yesterday, the Simi Valley Unified School District is working closely with the police to maintain a secure environment. Officials are urging everyone to remain vigilant and adhere to the "See Something, Say Something" policy, stressing that no concern is too minor to bring forth.
