
A tragic crash in Sunnyvale early Sunday morning claimed the life of a motorcyclist despite emergency crews’ attempts at life-saving measures, Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety officials reported. The accident occurred at the intersection of Lawrence Expressway and Arques Avenue around 6:49 AM, where first responders found the biker with serious injuries. The individual was later pronounced dead at the scene, authorities confirmed.
According to the preliminary investigation, the motorcyclist was northbound on Lawrence Expressway, attempting a left turn onto Arques Avenue. At the same time, the driver of a vehicle was headed south on the expressway when the fatal collision happened. Emergency personnel discovered the driver of the vehicle with minor injuries, and he is said to be cooperating with investigators. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash, which is still under investigation by Sunnyvale's MAIT.
Sunnyvale's DPS took to social media, calling for any potential eyewitnesses to step forward in an X post published after the incident, "Any witnesses to the collision are asked to contact MAIT Investigator Larks at (408) 730-7109." The investigation into the accident continues as officials piece together the circumstances that led to the motorcyclist fatality.
