Chase in Danville leads to burglar's bust. A robbery that rattled a Danville gas station on February 22 has led to an arrest after a dramatic police chase, officials said.
The original incident occurred at approximately 9:54 pm when Danville officers were called to the scene of an armed robbery by four black males, heavily disguised in hooded sweatshirts and ski masks. They had swiped merchandise and fled before the police could catch them, the suspects had been seen getting into a black Chevrolet Blazer. Danville PD detectives put out an APB on the vehicle after the armed robbery on the 100 block of Hartz Avenue, Danville Police Department reported.
Fast forward to March 5, more than a week later, the getaway car was spotted eastbound on Highway 24 by sharp-eyed Lafayette PD officers. The ensuing pursuit, joined by Concord PD, led to the suspect, Sean Shavers, abandoning the Blazer and attempting an escape in a different car. He didn't get far, Lafayette officers pounced, securing his arrest in Concord, the police detailed.
Shavers, a 28-year-old Oakland resident, faced charges which include evasion, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and having a high-capacity magazine among other charges. After his capture, he was hauled off to the Martinez Detention Facility, and currently sits on a hefty $155,000 bail, according to officials. The suspect's past is catching up, a hardened history now broken open by police persistence.
