In a high-speed brush with the law, an adult male found himself in handcuffs after he allegedly tossed a handgun from a speeding vehicle, leading to a weapons violation charge. The incident unfolded in the pre-dawn hours of March 14th when officers spotted the vehicle hurtling through the 5800 block of 73rd Ave N. and gave chase, a pursuit that culminated in a brief game of cat and mouse, according to local authorities.
As the officers attempted to flag down the rogue motorist, the car made a brazen attempt to duck the law before the driver threw the firearm from his window, the attempt at evasion was brief however, as the police were able to corner the suspect near 71st Ave N and Zane Ave N. An area that quickly saw an influx of law enforcement personnel. Authorities confirm the recovery of the weapon and state that the suspect, now in custody, faces charges pertaining to the weapons violation, and it seems the suspect acted alone with no other persons currently being sought in this case.
The public was made aware of the altercation and subsequent arrest via an online alert system which often serves as a real-time conduit between law enforcement operations and the broader community. It remains unclear what motivated the suspect to speed that night or why he possessed the gun in the first place.
Authorities have yet to release the identity of the man apprehended, and additional details relating to the individual’s background, or the specifics of the charges laid against him, are still pending, however, it is assumed that the streets are somewhat safer with one less illegally obtained weapon circulating within this neighborhood and the prompt action by the police has underscored their commitment to public safety.
