Two young men, one 17 and the other just 16, face murder charges in a Houston shooting that left a woman dead in her own vehicle, police disclosed. The victim, identified as 37-year-old Isha Goff was attacked as she was on her way back to her home at 3100 Elmside Drive, with her two young children on board, past sundown on February 23.
Leashtian Blanks, the elder of the two suspects, has been hit with a murder charge, and his booking photo was released in a news announcement by the Houston Police Department (HPD), but information regarding the younger, who is being processed by Harris County Juvenile Probation authorities, remains, withheld due to his juvenile status.
Responding to a call about a shooting at approximately 8 p.m., HPD patrol officers found Goff suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the prompt arrival of paramedics from the Houston Fire Department, Goff was declared to have succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Miraculously, her children aged 13 and 3, escaped physical harm.
"HPD Homicide Division Detectives A. Graff II and E. Torres II reported: HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting and found Ms. Goff had been shot while in her vehicle, Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced her deceased," according to the official press release. The initial accounts of the incident described the gunmen as two black males in their teens to early 20s.
After an investigation that continued into the following month, detectives pointed the finger at Blanks and the as-yet-unnamed minor as principal suspects in this tragic case. A statement released Tuesday (March 26) confirmed the arrests of both individuals by officers from the HPD's Northeast Patrol Division Crime Suppression Team, without incident.
