A Texas man with ties to the Hays County GOP has been handed a staggering 410-year prison sentence for a series of heinous sexual abuse offenses involving children and possession of a trove of child pornography, as reported by KXAN.
Bo Michael Dresner, a 44-year-old former precinct chair and sergeant-at-arms for the Hays County Republican Party, received his sentence from Judge Gary Steel after a guilty plea on all 65 counts the trial for which began on March 4 but after the first day of testimony Dresner changed his plea to guilty, he had been stopped by authorities in 2019 as he attempted to flee the country, officials said. The multitude of charges included counts of continuous sexual abuse of multiple children and intent to promote child pornography, with the sentences stacked consecutively, resulting in the centuries-long term set by Judge Steel, as per KXAN.
The examination of Dresner's electronic devices unveiled hundreds of thousands of images amounting to child pornography and disturbing internet searches for countries that would not extradite to the United States the devastating accumulation of proof playing a pivotal role in the trial, according to KVUE.
Notably, this wasn’t Dresner's first offense; in 2005, he pleaded guilty to assaulting a 15-year-old in Minnesota, yet that sentence was inexplicably reduced, as cited by KVUE. Moreover, the troubling revelation surfaces that one of the victims had brought forth allegations against Dresner as far back as 2012 — with Child Protective Services being involved, law enforcement did not fully investigate, and the child was regrettably sent back to live with Dresner.
