A Texas drug dealer on parole is heading back to prison for the fourth time, this time for a 35-year sentence, prosecutors in Collin County announced. Convicted drug dealer Calvin Ray Hudson, 44, of Princeton, was sentenced after a routine traffic stop led to his latest arrest for methamphetamine possession with intent to deliver, according to Collin County.

Hudson's recent encounter with the law began on September 7, 2021, when Plano Police Department Officer Ben Thurmond pulled him over. The driver initially gave a false identity, but his true name – and an outstanding warrant – were uncovered by officers. Officer Richard Varner found two empty syringes and over 20 grams of meth in Hudson's possession, indicating he was carrying enough for around 100 doses, significantly more than personal use levels. During the trial, a narcotics detective testified that the amount seized from Hudson was characteristic of distribution, not mere personal use.

Following a first-degree felony conviction for Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine by Judge Jennifer Edgeworth, the court learned about Hudson's extensive history of drug offenses during the sentencing phase. "A relentless drug dealer, undeterred by parole and three prior prison sentences for the same crime, has finally been stopped," Willis stated after the sentencing. "Collin County families can breathe easier with this 35-year sentence", as per Collin County.

According to the DA's office, this wasn't Hudson's first rodeo. His record dates back to 2007, with multiple convictions for similar drug-related offenses and felony thefts intersecting his life's narrative. Assistant Criminal District Attorneys Emily Pratt and Nick Lawrance led the prosecution, with help from DA investigators Stephanie Strickland and Michael Bennett.
