Michigan attorney Stefanie Lambert, who has been a vocal advocate for former President Donald Trump's claims of election fraud, saw her legal troubles escalate after she surrendered to authorities on Thursday morning at an Oakland County courthouse. Lambert was previously nabbed by U.S. Marshals in Washington, D.C. for ignoring a Michigan court date related to felony charges accusing her of tampering with voting machines after the 2020 election. Following her arrest, she was released from custody with instructions to report back to Michigan, according to The Detroit News.
Lambert is tied up in an election machine conspiracy case alongside other defendants including Kalamazoo attorney Matthew DePerno and former state Rep. Daire Rendon. At the Oakland County Circuit Court, Judge Jeffery Matis enforced the need for Lambert to submit to fingerprinting and give a DNA sample, actions she had resisted for months. Despite initial resistance, she was eventually handcuffed, processed, and appeared back in court donning a maroon jail jumpsuit, "shackled at her wrists and ankles," reported AP News.
While Lambert faced the music in Michigan, the fallout from her legal endeavors in Washington D.C. was not far behind. Her involvement in a case related to leaked documents from Dominion Voting Systems landed her in hot water with the company, which has been at the center of Trump-backed election conspiracy theories. According to Hoodline, Lambert defended leaking internal emails by stating she was exposing "crimes" and acting in service to the public trust by reporting them to authorities.
Despite Lambert's claims of righteousness, the courtroom developments following her actions have not been favorable to her. Dominion has been pressing for her to face serious repercussions, including disbarment – emphasizing that her conduct not only disobeyed court orders but exposed company employees to heightened risks. As the ordeal continues, Lambert, whose bond was posted at $10,000, must next appear at a pre-trial hearing set for March 28. Amidst legal battles strewn across multiple states, Lambert maintains that there's been "a weaponization tactic used", which as she told The Detroit News, will reveal the true nature of the ongoing conflict.
