A deadly collision on the North Freeway has left two dead early Saturday morning, police said. According to City of Houston News, the fatal crash occurred at 5700 North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45) around 4:10 a.m.
The victims, a 23-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man, have not yet been officially identified as the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences is still in the process of verification. The two were pronounced dead on the scene by Houston Fire Department paramedics, after their vehicles collided head-on.
Details provided by HPD's Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant Y. Ramirez and Officer R. Guzman revealed the male driver of a black Honda Accord was driving against traffic, going northbound in the southbound lanes, when he hit a blue Toyota Rav4. The female driver in the Toyota, presumably driving southbound in the proper lane, had no chance to avoid the imminent collision.
