Two men have been nabbed in connection to a harrowing robbery and shootout in Perris, law enforcement officials announced this week. The Riverside County Sheriff's deputies were called to the scene of the crime in the 500 block of West 4th Street on the evening of March 15 following a victim's report of being robbed and shot at gunpoint.
According to a statement from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, the Robbery Burglary Suppression Team, and Perris Station Investigators took the helm of the case. Information leading to the suspects' whereabouts was gathered, and on March 19, Ethan Morris, a 22-year-old local, was arrested with the aid of the Special Enforcement Bureau, SEB.
The investigation continued as authorities executed a search warrant on March 20 at a residence on the 300 block of 3rd Street. Daniel Gonzalez, 21, also from Perris, was taken into custody. During the search, officers unearthed items tied to the crime scene and three firearms.
Ethan Morris now faces robbery charges and is being held at the Cois Byrd Detention Center, while Gonzalez has been charged with attempted homicide, robbery, being a felon in possession of firearms, and parole violation. The latter suspect is locked up at the Robert Presley Detention Center. According to the Sheriff's Department, anyone with additional information on the case is encouraged to contact Deputy Sanchez at Riverside County Sheriff’s dispatch, or the Perris Station directly.
The arrests look to be a significant breakthrough in the case that put the community on edge, yet the authorities affirm that this investigation is far from over. They continue to pursue all leads and appeal to the public for any additional information that might bring more light to the circumstances of this crime.
