A woman was found dead inside a van in a remote part of the Angeles National Forest, sparking a death investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. According to KTLA, the body was discovered on Mount Baldy Road near Shinn Road shortly after 10:30 p.m. Monday.
After reports of a body were called into deputies, they responded to the Mount Baldy and Shinn Road intersection, finding the van parked on the road's shoulder. Inside the vehicle, an unidentified woman was found unconscious and not breathing, confirming her death at the scene. At this stage, the sheriff's department spokesperson confirmed that the incident could not be determined as a homicide, as reported by CBS Los Angeles.
No cause of death has been released and the identity of the woman remains unknown. The unsettling discovery has left many unanswered questions about the circumstances leading to her death.
Responding to the grim find, Los Angeles County Fire Department firefighters and county Haz Mat personnel were also called to the scene. While deputies did not give details on whether the death was suspicious, they are combing through evidence gathered in and around the solitude of Mount Baldy Road.
