A Victorville woman was nabbed for allegedly driving drunk and putting children in danger, officials said Monday. Marissa Cardenas, 40, of Apple Valley, was arrested Saturday night after deputies spotted her swerving and striking the curb on Bear Valley Road in a black Dodge Challenger, according to a report from the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department.
It was Deputy J. Mora who flagged down the erratic vehicle, which continued to swerve then turned north on Pacoima Road, after which the deputy made the traffic stop and found that Cardenas appeared under the influence of alcohol inside the vehicle were two 14-year-old male juveniles—related to the suspect—who also showed signs of intoxication, sporting an open container of malt liquor, authorities said.
The inebriated minors were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, with the report indicating they were later handed off to their parents' care. Cardenas faces charges of DUI and child cruelty and, after being booked at High Desert Detention Center, she was released on bail, the sheriff-coroner's office detailed. The case remains active and anyone with further details is encouraged to reach out to Deputy Mora at the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station or anonymously through We-Tip.
