Williamson County, Texas, is currently abuzz with the inaugural Kitten-Fest, a feline-focused event hosted by the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter. Launched this past Saturday, the shelter put together a spirited afternoon dedicated to the arrival of new kittens, according to CBS Austin.
The event, which ran from noon to 4 p.m., wasn't just a cuddle fest - it was a concerted effort to garner support and resources for the kittens, the shelter aims to keep them fit and ready for adoption into caring homes. Local vendors played a significant role in the day's success, offering their goods while pledging 10% of their proceeds to the shelter's kitten fund, as local businesses pitched in to support the cause, with every purchase contributing to the wellness of these young cats, as per CBS Austin.
But it wasn't all about the kittens; an initiative to find homes for larger dogs came into play as well. The shelter set a nominal $2 adoption fee for all canines over 30 pounds as a side chapter to the main event.
The shelter's blend of charitable cause and celebration urges the community to "make memories and meow-gical moments together," as stated by the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter. The event's venue, listed as 1855 SE Inner Loop in Georgetown, TX, was the hub for the day's festivities, which included a wide array of activities aimed at supporting the kitten foster program amid the upcoming peak of kitten season where numerous attendees came together in a show of support for the tiny felines and those who look after them.
