Residents across parts of southwest North Carolina, east Tennessee, and southwest Virginia are advised to be prepared for strong gusty winds today, with the National Weather Service in Morristown issuing a Wind Advisory for the East Tennessee mountains and adjacent foothills. The advisory, highlighting the likelihood of hazardous conditions, comes as the region braces for a spell of unsettled weather, including showers and potential thunderstorms predicted for next week.
While today's weather in Knoxville sees an overcast sky with temperatures lingering around 52°F and humidity at a moderate 53%, according to the National Weather Service, the outlook for the evening is less than ideal. Showers are expected to commence post 9pm, creating patchy fog that could disrupt visibility and make driving conditions precarious. The anticipated precipitation amount ranges between a quarter and half an inch.
Looking ahead to the weekend, tomorrow morning might still witness showers, mainly before 7am, with patchy fog possibly affecting early risers. Despite the chill, the sun is set to re-emerge by Sunday, promising clearer skies and a high near 65°F. Yet, the reprieve seems brief, as the new week ushers in partly sunny skies with a chance of showers after 2am on Monday night.
The forecast for Tuesday is even drearier. "Showers likely, mainly after 8am," warns the National Weather Service, with a 70% chance of precipitation that might lead into the evening with potential thunderstorms. But for residents weary of the rain, a glimmer of hope comes by Thursday, which promises mostly sunny weather and highs creeping back toward the more spring-like 62°F.
