Early morning chaos erupted in Garden Grove today when firefighters rushed to the scene of a two-vehicle collision that left one woman critically injured and another man stable. According to an X post from the Orange County Fire Authority, the crash occurred at the intersection of Dale St and Chapman Ave. at 5:01 a.m.

Upon arrival, Engine 82 found one vehicle ablaze, ensnaring a woman with dangerous power lines downed around her. In a statement obtained by the Orange County Fire Authority, first responders, including an officer from the Garden Grove PD and a deputy from the OCSD, were able to temporarily contain the fire using fire extinguishers. Despite the perilous conditions, E82 firefighters managed to deploy a hose line to quell the flames, all while working diligently to free the trapped passenger.

The 'Jaws of Life' proved crucial, as Truck 85 utilized the hydraulic rescue tool to extricate the woman from the wreckage. She subsequently received immediate medical attention from firefighter paramedics and was promptly transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. The driver of the same car, an adult male who had managed to self-extricate, was also treated and transported to a hospital, but his injuries were reported to be less severe with his condition being stable.

The driver of the second vehicle involved in the collision declined any medical treatment, and transportation, signaling that the aftermath could have been much worse.
