A young man's life was abruptly ended following a high-speed crash in Northwest D.C. that occurred last week, officials said. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, 18-year-old Mohamed Samura of Fredericksburg, VA, succumbed to his injuries Monday after an Audi sedan hit him at a crosswalk on April 11.

As reported by the Metropolitan Police Department, the Audi sedan was speeding north on 6th Street, Northwest collided with a parked vehicle, and the crash continued its chaotic trajectory when the driver, attempting a left turn onto Fairmont Street, Northwest, lost control, the vehicle-mounted the curb, it struck Samura, who was near the crosswalk at approximately 3:38 p.m.

Emergency responders rushed both Samura and the Audi driver to a local hospital, where Samura was treated for serious injuries and the Audi driver for minor injuries, as per the Metropolitan Police Department. Tragically, the pedestrian's injuries proved fatal, leading to his death four days post-collision.
