Drivers in Atlanta should brace for some detours as a key segment of Elliott Street SW is getting shut down for construction next week. According to a notice from the Atlanta Department of Transportation, the stretch of Elliott Street SW between Mitchell Street SW and Magnum Street SW will be off-limits starting from the stroke of midnight on April 15 until the evening of April 19. The closure is set to accommodate construction activities in the area.

Although the imminent closure is bound to temporarily disrupt local traffic, the ATLDOT has been quick to lay out alternative routes. Southbound motorists on Mitchell Street SW will have to temporarily relearn their pathways: they've been advised to bypass Elliott Street SW and turn right onto Magnum Street SW instead.

The department has made it clear that they are aware of the inconveniences such closures can cause to the daily commute. As stated on their website, "The parking garage exit located on Elliott Street SW will remain open. Motorists will only be allowed to exit towards Magnum Street SW and proceed to Mitchell Street SW,"

For those with questions or concerns about the approaching closure and its impact, there’s a direct line to get answers. The Atlanta Department of Transportation has encouraged the public to reach out via email at [email protected].
