Over the coming days, Austinites should expect humidity to creep up, making for muggier conditions, with mostly cloudy skies and highs comfortably lodged in the low-to-mid 80s. "Wednesday patchy fog before 9 am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 83," as noted by the National Weather Service. Yet the sunshine is taking a backseat as Thursday and Friday loom with a possibility of isolated storms amid increased cloud cover.
The city's residents should brace for a shift in their usual spring weather patterns, according to KXAN, as two storm systems inch closer to the region late this week, set to "push the dryline closer to us Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday." These systems may not pass directly over the state, yet their proximity is enough to cause "spotty to scattered storms each day, some of which could be strong to severe."
Despite the looming inclemency, temperatures are forecast to rise. "Afternoon highs will continue to warm with temperatures pushing well into the 80s by this weekend," KXAN reports. These higher temperatures, paired with persistent humidity, suggest a sultry and stormy cocktail of weather for Austin's weekend. The National Weather Service predicts a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms for Friday, while the chances flutter between 20 and 30 percent through to Monday, the anticipation of precipitation, an ever-present note in the ether.
