Austin residents can expect another day mirroring Saturday's warm and breezy conditions, with wind gusts anticipated to reach around 20 to 25 mph by this afternoon. The morning's cloud cover should gradually clear up, paving the way for a partly cloudy sky later in the day, and temperatures are expected to hover in the low to mid-80s, KXAN reports.
The week ahead will bring variety in weather, with a forecast predicting mostly cloudy days and fluctuating chances of showers and thunderstorms. According to the National Weather Service, the Austin area will see lows around 66 tonight, with a persistent south breeze. Furthermore, an approaching upper-level low, tracking from San Francisco to eastern Colorado, will usher in moisture from the Pacific. That may result in a low chance of showers and thunderstorms for the region starting after 8 p.m. Monday until 2 p.m. on Tuesday, particularly in the Hill Country and eastern counties, according to the forecast.
There is a very low chance for showers across the southern Edwards Plateau & northwest Hill Country Monday night & near and east of the I-35 corridor Tuesday morning. The possibility of severe weather early this week is on the table as well, with the Storm Prediction Center having placed the western counties of Central Texas under a Marginal risk from Monday night to 7 a.m. Tuesday. This risk is extended to the I-35 counties eastward on Tuesday. The primary concerns with these potential thunderstorms include hail, possibly an inch or more in diameter.
Wednesday should grant a brief respite, being dry across the board, however, rain and storms are predicted to make a return by Thursday morning and persist intermittently into the weekend. The probability of precipitation escalates from a 20 percent chance on Thursday and Friday to 30 percent Friday night, and peaking at 40 percent on Saturday, reports KXAN.
