
An Austin firefighter was injured Sunday afternoon during a blaze at a northeast Austin structure, officials said. The fire, reported shortly before 3 p.m. on the 7300 block of Berkman Dr., led to a search for a reported victim believed to be inside the building. After an aggressive search under heavy fire conditions, first responders found the structure was vacant, according to CBS Austin.

The member of the Austin Fire Department was transported by Austin-Travis County EMS for sustaining non-life-threatening injuries, as reported by KXAN. The firefighter, according to reports, got hurt during a courageous effort to locate any individuals trapped inside the home while the fire was heavily consuming it.
As the fire department and emergency services responded to the scene, AFD informed that initially there was a report of a person trapped within the affected home. However, a thorough search conducted amid the arduous conditions revealed no one present inside said dwelling.
