Boichik Bagels, a chain that's been on the rise since its Bay Area inception, has set its sights on a new terrain: Los Angeles' Los Feliz neighborhood. The bagelry, known for its East Coast-inspired offerings, is looking to assuredly claim the West Coast with its first L.A. locale, per a report from Eater LA. Rendering locals and transplants alike to soon never have to lament over the search for a good bagel in California again.
Since its 2019 launch, Boichik Bagels has swiftly expanded, quickly earning the bold tagline, "There are no(w) good bagels in California," – a claim backed up by one critic from the New York Times, who went as far to boldly state in their review, "The Best Bagels Are in California (Sorry, New York)." Emily Winston, a New Jersey native and founder of Boichik, to inspired develop her own recipe after H&H Bagels, her favorite New York bagel shop, closed, according to Eater LA.
Boichik's ascent began with friends' taste tests, followed by a series of “wildly popular” pop-ups, leading Winston to open her first brick-and-mortar in Berkeley in 2019. Now, the bagel empire not only envelops six stores in Northern California but is also plotting three more in San Francisco. Plus, Angelenos can already catch a glimpse of the Boichik brand in Erewhon's frozen section.
The bakery's arsenal includes an array of noshes; from bialy and bagels to house made cream cheese spreads and platters, they even to offer up lox, sable, and an assortment of salads including whitefish, tuna, and egg.
