During midnight, Boston cops cuffed three suspects on a slew of gun and drug trafficking charges in Roxbury, much to the chagrin of the local troublemakers and possibly much to the relief of law-abiding citizens. The suspects, nabbed after a foot chase down Mount Pleasant Avenue, included Jaileen Joseph, 20, of Roslindale; Kevin Vandergrfit, 19, of Brighton; and a 17-year-old juvenile male.

The tense sequence unfolded just after midnight on April 16, when officers from District B-2, prompted by complaints of loud music, descended on 39 Mount Pleasant Avenue and spotted a group making a racket, then the situation quickly ramped up when one man's furtive movements betrayed him as he clutched at his waistband, another beat a hasty retreat toward an alley clasping his waistband tightly and a hectic foot chase kicked off with officers in hot pursuit.

Law enforcement's diligence paid off, recovering not one, but two firearms—a bagged Smith & Wesson, loaded and ready to go, and a Glock 19 that later turned out to be stolen and equally locked and loaded, according to a report by Boston Police. The Glock, an intimidating piece with the capability to hold thirty rounds, was equipped with a large capacity feeding device and found alongside a hefty 22 grams of crack cocaine, tossed unceremoniously under a vehicle before the perp was handcuffed without further theatrics.

Each of the men arrested is now facing serious time with Vandergrift staring down charges including unlawful possession of a firearm, ammo, and that large capacity feeding device while Joseph got tagged with trafficking class B drugs and the underaged suspect, due to his age, faces delinquency charges instead and will have his day in Boston Juvenile court, with the older suspects awaiting their court dates at Roxbury District Court, all this action pulls the curtain back on the never-ending struggle between the streets and the law in Boston's ongoing battle against crime.
