Brentwood Police Thwart Home Depot Theft Spree, Two Suspects ChargedBrentwood PD

Two men suspected in a series of retail thefts were caught by the police at a Home Depot in Brentwood, law enforcement officials said. The suspected thieves, known to pilfer from various Home Depot establishments, were caught on Sunday evening, the Brentwood Police Department reported.

Responding to the call, officers managed to detain 54-year-old Daniel Clark of Fairfield. Attempts by his accomplice, 38-year-old Thomas Hodge, to fleetly flee were in vain as the police nabbed him too. Found inside their truck were several buckets full of what's believed to be stolen paint, a magnetized device presumably used to lift security tags, and a stash of cash.

According to the Facebook post by the City of Brentwood Police Department, these findings led to both men being charged with organized retail theft, and conspiracy to commit a crime, among other charges. The police also found drugs and drug paraphernalia on Clark, reflecting additional charges on his rap sheet. Hodge's record was further stained with existing warrants and violations of his felony probation for Grand Theft.

Both suspects were ushered to the Martinez Detention Facility. The capture represented the department's unwavering commitment "to maintaining public safety and safeguarding businesses from further criminal activity," the Brentwood Police proudly declared. The rapid apprehension of the suspects by the cops serves to solidify their reputation of swift action in the face of crime, ensuring the local Home Depot and other businesses remain secured against such threats.
