Brooklyn Park residents, mark your calendars for a greener community initiative. The biannual Recycling Drop-Off Day will take place on Saturday, April 27 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Brooklyn Park Operations and Maintenance Facility located at 8300 Noble Avenue North. This is an opportunity for the community to responsibly dispose of certain recyclable items that aren't accepted by the regular curbside pickup, according to the City of Brooklyn Park.
When it comes to your weekly recycling collection, the city reminds citizens to have their carts at the curb by the early hour of 6:30 a.m. on pick-up days. Crews are tasked to finish collection by 6:00 p.m. An important guideline to remember is to avoid placing carts on the street and to maintain a three-foot clearance from mailboxes or any other carts, as per the City of Brooklyn Park.
Furthermore, for the sorting facility to efficiently do its part, recyclables must be placed loose in the cart rather than bagged, as plastic bags will be disregarded and paper bags can cause jams during the truck's compaction process.
