The City of Carrollton is issuing a call to action for women who are eager to serve and protect, spotlighting the often unsung heroines in its ranks of first responders during a special Women's First Responder Day event set for April 20. The gathering is tailored to enlighten potential recruits about the integral roles women play in public safety, featuring a 911 call simulation and a notable speech by a trailblazing former police chief.

Ladies looking to explore careers in the Carrollton Police Department (CPD), Carrollton Fire Rescue (CFR), and the North Texas Emergency Communications Center (NTECC) are welcome to the Carrollton Senior Center, where from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. they will discover a variety of positions, chances for hands-on experiences, and engage in dialogue with seasoned pros, all in an atmosphere designed for them to ask questions and be inspired by female leaders in the community, while various activities are lined up outside the Senior Center, showcasing motorcycle officers weaving through obstacles and a drone pilot showcasing their skills, the doors will open an hour prior and lunch will be on the house.

"This free event is a great opportunity for any woman with a desire to serve," CPD Sergeant Victoria Grayson stated, promoting an environment where women can freely inquire about public safety roles and find ways to contribute to Carrollton's welfare. Jessica Robledo, Carrollton’s public safety role model, and the first female and Latina police chief of Pflugerville, who now shares her vast experiences spanning 30 years, adds to the day's insights and experiences, according to the City of Carrollton, Texas.

"The goal of this type of event is to have productive and informative conversations between women in the community searching for a rewarding career and the women first responders who serve the City," Carrollton Police Chief Roberto Arredondo stressed, emphasizing the event as a bridge for prospective female first responders to connect and engage, in addition to praising the dedication CPD and CFR personnel show towards ensuring Carrollton's safety and appeal for both families and businesses, as per the City of Carrollton, Texas.
