Residents are invited to join the Chandler Fire Department on May 4 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. for a Water Safety Walk aimed at reducing aquatic mishaps. The initiative is part of the #WaterYouDoing campaign, geared towards preventing drownings through community involvement and education.
Firefighters are seeking the help of locals, including scout troops, religious members, and swim teams, to canvas neighborhoods with crucial water safety tips. According to the city's announcement, Chandler Fire Chief Tom Dwiggins is spearheading the effort, encouraging everyone to assist in this effort. Interested volunteers can sign up for the event and will receive all the necessary materials to deliver door hangers that detail steps to prevent water-related tragedies.
Moreover, Chandler is offering an evening of fun with a free Dive-In Movie at Hamilton Aquatic Center. "Elemental" by Disney and Pixar is on the bill, starting at 7 p.m. after doors open at 6 p.m. on the same day. The event will feature a water safety expo, interactive activities, and giveaways, as mentioned by the city's news center. Families can bring their clear inner tubes for an immersive cinematic experience in the pool.
As drowning prevention remains a critical issue, Chandler is stepping up its game by offering residents the chance to win a free pool fence and installation. The giveaway, a collaboration between the Chandler Fire, Police departments, and Chandler Aquatics along with Arizona Pool Fence, will run from May 1 through Aug. 1.
