Three jewelry thieves from Chile were nabbed by deputies in Palm Desert on Wednesday after a dramatic chase that ended on Highway 111. Miguel Roman, 42, Sandra Leonor Roman Penno, 23, and Marjorie Estephania Rojas Alegria, 33, were taken into custody following a theft reported in the upscale 73000 block of El Paseo shopping district,  as reported by the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

The suspects' attempt to quickly leave the scene in a black Lexus was thwarted when deputies located them and made an enforcement stop. In a turn of events, two suspects made a run for it, only to shortly be caught. The pursuit did not result in injury to deputies or the suspects, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

The alleged thieves had been described by the victim, which allowed the officials to act swiftly. A description of the three suspects and their vehicle reportedly played a key role in the arrest.

All three individuals were booked at the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio. Miguel Roman, Sandra Leonor Roman Penno, and Marjorie Estephania Rojas Alegria, who are all residents of Chile, are currently facing charges for the theft, as per the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. Officials have yet to disclose the value of the jewelry stolen.
