A routine patrol turned into a significant bust for the Cotati Police Department when an officer spotted a suspicious vehicle in the quaint suburbs of Sonoma County. The incident, which unfolded late last night on East Cotati Avenue, led to the arrest of an individual on charges related to a felony warrant and meth possession, the department detailed in a recent Facebook post.
The encounter began just after nightfall, around 9:04 PM, when the patrolling officer zeroed in on a vehicle parked outside a local car wash. Upon engaging with the vehicle's occupant, the officer learned of an outstanding Felony Arrest Warrant for the individual issued by Los Angeles County. The subsequent investigation quickly escalated after the initial warrant discovery and a search of the suspect and the vehicle unearthed roughly 31.3 grams of methamphetamine, along with a pipe used to consume the drug.
According to the official statement from the Cotati Police Department, the suspect was taken into custody without incident and has since been booked at the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility. The detainee faces additional charges, which include violations of sections 11364 (a) and 11377 (a) of the California Health and Safety Code—the statutes that specifically forbid the possession of paraphernalia used for ingesting controlled substances and the possession of methamphetamines, respectively.
