A Detroit man, James Long Jr., 30, was sentenced to 7 to 15 years of prison time this past Wednesday for his involvement in multiple home invasions in Macomb County, as reported by the Detroit News. Long's sentencing was handed down by Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Edward Servitto after a guilty plea was entered in February for three counts of second-degree home invasion.

Long, alongside Antonio Barry, 43, of Clinton Township, was connected to a series of incidents where the pair masqueraded as construction workers, complete with work vests, using the guise to determine if potential targets were home. Their nefarious activities spanned not just Macomb, but also Oakland and Wayne counties. Both men were nabbed on July 26, 2023, according to the ClickOnDetroit.

As revealed by the Macomb Daily, Long's streak of invasions left a trail of evidence that authorities were able to follow, eventually leading to his capture after surveillance footage from a similar case in Dearborn was scrutinized. Long had also been sentenced previously for a Dearborn home invasion, resulting in two years probation and the first seven months in jail.

Meanwhile, the proceedings against Barry are still underway, with an upcoming pre-trial set for April 17. Barry not only faces charges in connection with the home invasions but also for possession of a firearm and ammunition by a felon. His trial is anticipated to commence on June 11, with Judge Servitto presiding yet again. Barry, who was on parole after a 2016 home invasion sentence, seems to have returned to old habits shortly after his January 2023 release, as indicated by state records.
