The City of Duncanville has made a crucial move in its fire department leadership, appointing a seasoned veteran, Greg Chase, as the new Interim Fire Chief. This announcement came during a City Council meeting held last Tuesday. Chase, replacing the retiring Fire Chief Sam Rohde, is set to lead the department he's called home for over three decades.
Sam Rohde, who has just crowned off nearly 40 years of service to the community, will be stepping down at the end of April. Paying homage to Rohde's dedication, City Manager Douglas Finch praised his varied and abundant contributions. "I would like to thank Sam Rohde for his service and dedication to the City of Duncanville," Finch said in a statement obtained by the City of Duncanville. He didn't miss to express his gratitude towards the newly appointed Chase for welcoming the interim role.
Greg Chase's saga began back in 1986 as a part-time firefighter in Huntsville, TX, years before laying roots in the Duncanville Fire Department. He climbed the ranks, becoming a role model and a figure exemplary of dedication, eventually being promoted to Assistant Fire Chief, which he has skillfully held for the past five years.
As the mantle of leadership passes, Chase exudes readiness and a clear commitment to his team and the community at large. "I look forward to continuing to work alongside our fine firefighters, paramedics, and emergency medical service team," Chase said, expressing his reverence for his predecessor, according to the City of Duncanville. "It has been a great pleasure working with Chief Rohde serving the citizens of Duncanville. I wish him all the best in his retirement. I appreciate this opportunity the Duncanville City Council and City Manager Finch have given me to continue to lead the Duncanville Fire Department."
