A tragic accident in the early hours of the morning claimed the life of a woman and left a man critically injured. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office reported that their Vehicle Crimes Division responded to a distressing scene at the 16900 block of Bauer where a fatal car crash occurred.
According to the post by Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the single-vehicle incident involved two occupants where the car veered off the road, traveled into a ditch, and struck a concrete driveway with lethal consequence. The northbound lane of Bauer was shut down as a result of the accident to allow emergency services to attend the scene.

The female passenger could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the location. In a turn of harrowing misfortune, the male driver sustained severe injuries and is currently fighting for his life in a local hospital. Details on what caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle are still under investigation.
Local traffic was significantly impacted as the northbound lane of Bauer remained closed for a length of time to facilitate the investigation by authorities and the clearing of the aftermath. Motorists were advised to seek alternate routes.
