The Tempe Police Department was summoned to the intersection of Southern Avenue and 48th Street following the collision that occurred around 1:26 a.m. on Saturday, as reported by 12News. According to the officers, the deadly sequence unfolded when a vehicle, speeding east on Southern Avenue, blatantly ran a red light and rammed into another vehicle crossing south on 48th Street.
Responding immediately, the authorities found two vehicles severely damaged from the impact. They reported that both drivers were rushed to the hospital for their injuries, as stated by ABC15. Sadly, the driver who allegedly ran the red light succumbed to severe injuries after arrival at the hospital, leaving the other driver with minor injuries. The identity of the victims has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
