Fayetteville gears up to celebrate Georgia Cities Week with a roster of community-focused events open for public enjoyment. The City of Fayetteville has announced its schedule jam-packed with activities, including a City Hall Open House and Shred & Recycle Day, as posted on their official government website.
City Hall will roll out the welcome mat for visitors on Wednesday, April 24, from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Folks dropping by can expect departmental displays, contests, and giveaways, alongside light snacks to nibble on. The celebrations continue through to Saturday, with the Shred & Recycle Day set for April 27 from 9 a.m. to noon. City Center Park, right behind City Hall, is pegged as the spot for this eco-friendly initiative, the city's official site informs.
Citizens can take the opportunity to rid themselves of unwanted paper and various recyclable electronics, with limitations in place to ensure a smooth process. Up to ten small boxes or five bags of paper are permissible per participant for shredding, sans any materials that might gum up the works, like binder clips or CDs. Meanwhile, glass recycling will occur, though with noted exceptions which includes ceramics, windows, and auto glass. A full rundown of do's and don'ts is listed at the city's event page for those looking to take part.
Unfortunately for techies hoping to offload outdated gear, TVs and CRT monitors are a no-go for recycling at this event. Other items deemed not acceptable are light bulbs, unsealed batteries, and notably, cardboard is not on the recycling menu this go around. Prepping for the event? Fayetteville residents should plan to handle the disposal or re-purposing of any cardboard boxes themselves. For additional information on the event's recyclable items and any further restrictions, the City of Fayetteville's event page is the place to go.
