Firefighters battled a blaze Sunday at an abandoned mobile home in East Knox County that sent flames shooting into the sky and threatened to ignite the surrounding woods. The structure, a single-wide mobile home, was reportedly "completely engulfed in flames" which quickly spread to the nearby woods, creating a secondary brush fire. Although there were no injuries, the effort to control the blaze was hampered by a lack of fire hydrants in the area. "Water had to be shuttled to the scene by water tenders," said Jeff Bagwell of Rural Metro, indicating the logistical challenges faced by the firefighting team.
Rural Metro Fire Department's handling of the situation was swift, with both the house and brush fire being contained. The news, confirmed by WBIR, provided an account of the incident, ensuring that no injuries were reported following the fire department's response.
Authorities have advised the public to avoid the area during the firefighting operations, as per the Rural Metro Fire TN.
