Galveston Police Investigate Death of 2-Month-Old Infant, Public's Help SoughtSource: Google Street View

A heartbreaking scene unfolded in Galveston this weekend, as local police launched a probe into the death of an infant girl merely two months into the breath of life. According to Houston Chronicle, the authorities arrived at the 2900 block of Avenue M early Sunday morning to find the baby girl unconscious.

The tiny soul was rushed to UTMB Health Trauma Center, where attempts to keep the flicker of life from being snuffed out proved futile. The infant's identity has not been disclosed, and the Galveston Police Department remains tight-lipped on the details.

Officers are diligently seeking to piece together the puzzle that led to such an early departure from this realm.

Sources say the medical examiner's office bears the weighty task of determining a cause of death, while a plea for assistance has gone out to the public. Anyone with information is encouraged to come forward. “Due to the nature of the incident, officers and investigators with the Galveston Police Department are reviewing the case. At this time there is no additional information available until a cause of death has been determined by the Medical Examiner’s Office," the department said in a statement obtained by Click2Houston. They've urged potential informants to dial 409-765-3779 with any leads—or to report anonymously through Galveston Crime Stoppers at 409-763-8477 or on their website.
