Glendale, CA is gearing up to reconnect with Mother Nature, inviting the community to join a month-long series of eco-friendly festivities. This Earth Month, themed "Reconnect with the Earth," Glendale residents are called to take action and embrace a greener lifestyle, with the Office of Sustainability leading the charge.
Starting with the batteries of the future, locals can get a taste of electric propulsion at the Electric Car Guest Drive on April 6, at the Isabel Parking Lot. Meanwhile, gardeners will get their hands dirty at the Free Compost Giveaway on April 13, snagging nutrient-rich compost created from community organic waste. Hiking buffs can mark May 4 on their calendars for a Guided Hike through Sycamore Canyon, dipping their toes into Glendale's natural landscapes, according to the City of Glendale.
The main attraction hits Verdugo Park on April 20 with the Earth Day Fair, boasting an array of zero-waste activities designed for all ages. "Attendees are encouraged to bring their own water bottles, containers, cutlery, and to come the fair by walking, biking, and public transit in honor of Earth Day," the City of Glendale stated, offering bonus tickets for opportunity draws to those who do.
The Office of Sustainability isn't just throwing a party, they're educating the masses. On April 19, get schooled in soil science at the Friday Night Lecture: Get the Dirt on Dirt, deepening the understanding of one of Earth's most precious resources, as per the City of Glendale. For the complete schedule and registration details, Glendale's call to action can be found at GlendaleCA.gov/EarthDay, as they urge everyone to keep the Earth Month spirit alive year-round.
