
The city of Goodyear has pinned its hopes on veteran municipal guru Katie Wilken to steer the Development Services Department into a new era. With more than two decades under her belt, Wilken brings to the table an intimate knowledge of the city's inner workings and the development landscape. Her previous tenure includes 18 years dedicated to Goodyear, a testament to her steadfast commitment to the community she serves.
In a recent city announcement, having juggled multiple roles within the department, Katie Wilken has been promoted to the helm as the Director of Development Services. According to the City of Goodyear, City Manager Wynette Reed said, "Katie knows Development Services inside out." Reed praised Wilken as a "proven problem solver with tremendous experience and passion for her work."
The depth of Wilken's resume is robust, marked by a succession of escalating roles in Goodyear's Development Services, culminating in her recent stint as interim director. Her rise through the ranks serves as a reflection of her intimate grasp of city development and her capacity to meet its evolving challenges head-on.
Katie Wilken herself expressed excitement over her appointment, noting her pride and dedication to Goodyear. "I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to lead such a talented team," Wilken told the city's news outlet. Wilken is looking forward, especially in this important period of growth, to continue building strong relationships with the development community, "Serving Goodyear is a point of pride for me," she added, as per the City of Goodyear.
Wilken's academic credentials include a Master's Degree in Urban and Regional Planning and a Bachelor's Degree in Urban Planning and Development from Ball State University. Further solidifying her qualifications is her membership with the American Institute of Certified Planners and completion of the Certified Public Manager program at Arizona State University.
