A 22-year-old man was slapped with aggravated assault charges following a shooting incident in Houston, authorities said.

Eric Dewayne Jackson is accused of shooting a family member during an early morning altercation on Easter Street. According to a news release, the incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday. Found at the scene suffering from a gunshot wound was Jackson's 47-year-old uncle, who has been listed in stable condition in a nearby hospital.

The Houston Police Department officers who arrived in response to the shooting call discovered the victim. The suspect, Jackson, was taken into custody at the scene without incident. "HPD officers responded to a shooting call at the above address and found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound," Detective J.
