A 49-year-old man succumbed to injuries sustained in a brutal crash over the weekend on Westheimer Parkway, as per the Houston police. The victim, whose name is pending release pending official identification from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, was critically hurt in the Saturday evening incident that unfolded at approximately 5:35 p.m. in the 20200 block of the parkway, police said.

In a statement obtained from the City of Houston's news release, authorities detailed the accident, reporting a black Ford F-150, driven by the deceased, was traveling westbound when for reasons not yet known it veered off the road colliding with a tree nestled in the grassy median, the driver was hastily airlifted to a hospital his condition at the time deemed critical by first responders but on Monday tragedy struck as doctors pronounced him dead.

The Houston Police Department's Vehicular Crimes Division's Sergeant J. Wu and Officer D. Jones are spearheading the investigation into the harrowing crash.
